Price integrity
A sale price only means something if the old price was real. Ours are. This page sets out five commitments about how we price, each one specific enough that you could catch us breaking it.
Five commitments
Each one checkableEvery was-price on this site is taken from our own price history — the figure this product was genuinely selling for here, immediately before the reduction. Never a supplier’s suggested price, never a number chosen to make the current one look better.
A strikethrough that never disappears is not a discount, it is a decoration. Once a sale is over the product returns to a single price with no comparison attached.
No countdown timers, no “sale ends tonight” that quietly restarts, no “only two left” unless there are genuinely two left. Pressure is not a service.
GST is included in every price on the site. Shipping is calculated and shown in full before you reach the payment step, and no fee appears for the first time at checkout.
We do not compare our price to a supplier’s suggested figure that nobody in the market charges. If we show you a comparison at all, it is against our own previous price.
Why some prices move without warning
Worth being straight about: we do not set every price ourselves. Part of our range is fulfilled by suppliers who run their own promotions, and those changes reach our site automatically. It means a price can drop — or return to normal — without us deciding it that morning.
What we do control is what we show you about it. We will not dress up a supplier’s brief price change as a sale of ours, which is why a comparison only appears where the higher price genuinely ran here for a while. On the products we price ourselves, we set them once and leave them alone.
Why we are not the cheapest
We could be, on some items, by carrying the versions of them that break. A large part of what we do is deciding what not to stock — and a range chosen for finish, material and how long a thing lasts will not always be the cheapest listing you can find.
What we will not do is manufacture the appearance of a bargain. A permanent strikethrough, a countdown that resets, a recommended retail price nobody ever charged — those are all ways of competing on price without lowering one. We would rather price a thing fairly and say so once.
If a price looks wrong
Tell us. Not as a courtesy line — we will actually look. Send the product and what you have seen elsewhere, or simply say it feels off, and we will review the price and reply either way. Sometimes the answer is that a competitor is selling a different version of the same-looking product, and we will say that plainly rather than quietly match it.
If we got it wrong, we fix the price for everyone, not just for the person who asked.
How to hold us to it
We keep the price history of every product we list. Ask about any item and we will tell you what it has sold for and when it changed. A promise about pricing is worth very little if the only evidence is the promise, so this is the part that makes the rest of the page mean something.
This promise sits alongside your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which include protection against misleading pricing and cannot be limited by anything we publish. Our full terms are in the Terms of Use.
