Porous and non-porous: why it matters for cleaning
Porous materials absorb fluids and are harder to clean fully. Non-porous ones are easier to keep clean. Here is how to tell the difference.
Porous materials have tiny holes that absorb fluids. Once a toy has absorbed them, it's hard to clean completely, which is why the difference matters.
Telling them apart
Porous materials often feel softer and sometimes smell after use. Non-porous materials like glass, stainless steel and firm silicone feel smooth and hold no odour.
Cleaning
Wash both types after every use, but use extra care with porous materials. Replace porous toys sooner if they become sticky or start to smell.
